Would people pay for my app? How to find out

"Would people pay for this?" is the question every maker asks, usually too late. Here's how to get a real answer quickly.

Why likes and signups mislead you

Likes, upvotes and free signups all cost the person nothing. They tell you the idea is interesting, not that it's worth money. Plenty of apps with thousands of free users never make a dollar.

Ask the paying question directly

Show the app to people who don't know you and ask one thing: would you pay for it? A quick yes or no from many people beats a long survey from a few.

That's exactly what Would you pay? does: your app shows up as a card, people swipe right only if they'd pay, and you see the result once 10 people have voted.

Then ask how much

A yes tells you there's demand. A price tells you there's a business. When someone says they'd pay, ask what they'd pay per month. If most answers land well below the price you had in mind, you know before you launch.

Look at who says yes

If founders say yes and developers say no, you've learned who to sell to. Build and market for the group that says yes.
